HEATH AND SAUNDERS COLLABORATE ON $20 MILLION EXPANSION FOR SIERRA TRADING POST

FORT COLLINS, COLO. – The unique partnership formed when Saunders Construction of Denver acquired a 50% stake in Heath Construction of Fort Collins is gaining momentum as the two companies collaborate on substantial projects along the Front Range.  The latest of these is the 390,000 sq. ft., $20 million expansion at Sierra Trading Post’s distribution center in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The project is massive, says Heath Senior Project Manager Brian Cass, who is collaborating on this job with two outstanding Saunders construction pros, Superintendent Mike Fangman and Project Engineer David Coniglio.  “Eighty-six huge concrete wall panels will be cast onsite, using the slab as a casting bed, and ‘tilted up’ into place,” he said.  “By casting the panels in place, we’ll construct this building far more efficiently than if we were to truck in smaller pre-cast panels.”

The Sierra Trading Post project will also provide a showcase for the resource-sharing that now distinguishes Heath from other local contractors in Northern Colorado.  With construction booming on the Front Range and subcontractors in short supply, Heath will have no problems deploying the necessary subcontractors when they are needed.  Saunders will provide essential manpower – including crews of carpenters – to keep the project on track.

“Saunders is providing all the horsepower we need to grow quickly and keep pace with demand for a local contractor who can handle projects of any size and complexity,” said Heath President Randy DeMario.  “With the infrastructure, ready manpower and added bonding capacity that Saunders has made available, we’re prepared to handle projects of virtually any size and complexity.”
